Technical Bulletin TRM/95When using ultraviolet (UV) inks for press runs be sure to use a blanket specifically designed for UV ink. The chemical composition of UV inks is incompatible with the rubber on blankets that are not specifically made for UV inks. This incompatibility causes blanket swelling and may shorten plate life. UV blankets are made of a rubber compound that is resistant to the chemical compound in UV inks. Blankets made for UV inks are available for sheetfed and web presses.
